Middletown school district pitches itself to Orange county realtors

Eastwood, left, explains school improvements to realtors

MIDDLETOWN – Over the last three years, the Middletown City School District has been investing $35 million to upgrade and expand its school facilities and Wednesday, school and city officials highlighted their accomplishments to about 75 Orange County realtors who were invited to the high school for a tour.

Realtor Art Livesy said officials wanted to show the positives for offering homes and businesses in Middletown to their clients.

“We wanted to be able to let the realtors know what’s really happening in Middletown,” he said. “They have $35 million in renovations going on, lots of new programs, college courses and things like that and we felt if the realtors know the real story about Middletown, it’s going to be easier for them to buy homes here.”

Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Eastwood said in recent years, the district’s graduation rate has increased and the district continues to excel.

Middletown’s Mayor Marlinda Duncanson and city Economic Development Director Neil Novesky brought the realtors up to date on the redevelopment that has been going on in the city’s downtown business district.
