| Hinchey supports timely pullout from Iraq |
|
Washington – Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a member of the Democratic majority in the Congress, has been advocating for the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. Now, the Hurley, NY lawmaker told MidHudsonNews.com the United States could pull out by the end of the year if it is done the right way. “There’s no reason why we could not have most of our military forces redeployed out of Iraq – some of them would have to go to Afghanistan because the circumstances in Afghanistan are getting worse and worse – but most of our troops could be deployed out of Iraq before the end of this year and I think that would improve the situation in Iraq and the Middle East generally as a result of that.” At the latest, the US should withdraw its troops by March of next year as per the Iraq study group recommendations, Hinchey said. |
